About the Role
Figure is a newly public company building out its SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting function, and we’re looking for a Senior Manager to help build it. This is a small team with a real seat at the table. You’ll work directly with our Director of Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting, and you’ll influence how the business operates, not just how it’s reported.
The accounting here is new territory: tokenized loans, AAA-rated securitizations, on-chain lending marketplaces, and an SEC-registered yield-bearing stablecoin. Many of the questions you’ll work on don’t have a playbook yet, and you’ll help write it. If you’d rather build a function than maintain one, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
You’ll lead our SEC and financial reporting and work as we scale, with visibility across executive leadership, the Audit Committee, and our auditors. You’ll report to the Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting and manage one or more direct reports or contractors.
SEC & Financial Reporting:
- Own the preparation and timely filing of SEC reports, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, proxy statements and other required filings, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SEC regulations, and XBRL tagging.
- Prepare or review supporting schedules for financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A sections.
- Prepare disclosure checklists and tie-out documentation for SEC filings.
- Maintain the reporting calendar and ensure timely execution of deliverables to meet deadlines.
- Lead the review process with legal, external auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment.
- Manage the end-to-end accounting, valuation, and financial disclosures for stock-based compensation (ASC 718), including calculating monthly/quarterly expense, tracking equity grant activity, performing diluted EPS computations, and drafting footnote disclosures for Form 10-Q and 10-K filings.
- Improve how the function works: streamline the close-to-file timeline, simplify disclosures, and use automation where it makes sense.
- Help design and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls over financial reporting.
- Assist in preparing internal management and investor reports, as well as materials for the Audit Committee.
- Support regulator inquiries and information requests, as needed.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, or areas of risk and improvement.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with executive leadership, legal, investor relations, and auditors to deliver high-quality reporting.
- Help build a culture of ownership, learning, and operational excellence within the controllership team and broader finance.
Technical Accounting & Strategic Projects:
- Research and assess new accounting standards and SEC requirements, translating complex guidance into practical application.
- Provide technical accounting guidance to finance and cross-functional teams as needed.
- Support ad-hoc financial reporting initiatives and other strategic projects as the company scales.
What We Look For
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; active CPA required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Deep experience in SEC reporting (Regs S-X and S-K), including ownership of 10-Ks/10-Qs and financial statement preparation in a public company.
- Strong foundation in US GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting best practices.
- Mix of public company and Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
- Fintech, tech, or high-growth industry experience is a plus.
- Experience with Workiva (required) and NetSuite (preferred).
- Public company reporting experience is required.
- Adhere to all company security policies and data handling procedures.
- Complete mandatory security awareness training within required timeframes.
- Promptly report any suspected security incidents or suspicious activity to the Security team.
How You Work:
- Clear, confident communicator who can explain technical issues to executives in plain language.
- Highly organized with excellent project management skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Resourceful, curious, and proactive; driven to take ownership and grow within a scaling organization.
- Resilient, optimistic, and energized by challenge and change.
- High integrity and strong ethical standards.
- Precise with details while keeping the bigger picture in view.
- Able to lead through ambiguity, work independently, and coordinate across teams and time zones.
Salary
- Total Compensation Range: $227,906 - $308,344/yr
This is the compensation range for the role in the United States. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, internal equity, and evolving business needs.
