Salesforce QA Engineer – Public Sector

FormativGroup, LLC.
Salesforce Practice • Remote – U.S. with Potential Travel – Project-Based

Is this you

Are you a Salesforce QA professional who takes pride in delivering secure, reliable technology solutions that make a meaningful impact in the Public Sector? If you bring hands-on Government Cloud experience, strong testing and automation expertise, and a passion for quality across complex Salesforce environments, we'd love to connect with you!

About the role

The Salesforce QA Engineer role is focused on ensuring the quality, security, stability, and reliability of enterprise Salesforce solutions supporting Public Sector and Government Cloud initiatives.

As part of FormativGroup's Salesforce Practice, you'll support complex implementations across Government Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud, helping government organizations deliver dependable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.

You'll own and execute quality assurance activities across the Salesforce delivery lifecycle, combining manual testing, automated testing, integration validation, defect management, and release readiness. Working closely with developers, business analysts, architects, and client stakeholders, you'll help ensure Salesforce solutions meet business requirements, platform standards, and the compliance expectations of regulated Public Sector environments.

This is a remote, project-based opportunity supporting a Public Sector / Government Cloud initiative, with potential for extension based on project needs and performance.

We're anticipating future openings and are connecting now with great talent who'd like to be considered when the time comes.

What You'll Work On

As a Salesforce QA Engineer, you will:

  • Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and validation activities across Salesforce Government Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud implementations.

  • Perform functional, regression, integration, system, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and end-to-end testing across Salesforce applications and connected enterprise systems.

  • Validate Salesforce configurations, Flows, Lightning components, Apex functionality, APIs, security models, and custom platform enhancements.

  • Collaborate with Salesforce Developers, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and delivery teams to translate requirements and acceptance criteria into effective testing scenarios.

  • Build and maintain automated testing frameworks, test scripts, and regression suites using Copado and related Salesforce automation tools.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, retrospectives, and release readiness activities.

  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution while partnering with development teams on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation.

  • Verify data integrity, migration accuracy, and system functionality across Salesforce environments and deployments.

  • Ensure Salesforce solutions align with security, governance, accessibility, and applicable regulatory requirements within Public Sector and Government Cloud environments.

  • Support CI/CD deployment validation, release management, production readiness testing, and post-deployment verification.

  • Execute API and integration testing involving MuleSoft, middleware platforms, web services, and external enterprise applications.

  • Participate in client-facing testing discussions, defect reviews, solution demonstrations, and UAT coordination sessions.

  • Maintain accurate QA documentation, including test cases, test scripts, requirements traceability matrices, defect logs, and release validation reports.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen testing processes, improve automation coverage, and increase quality and consistency across Agile delivery teams.

What You'll Bring

You will likely be successful in this role if you have:

  • 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce QA, Quality Engineering, or Salesforce testing experience within enterprise environments.

  • Proven experience testing Salesforce implementations supporting Public Sector clients and Government Cloud environments.

  • Extensive experience developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts and test automation frameworks.

  • Strong hands-on testing experience across Salesforce Government Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Lightning Experience, and Salesforce Flows.

  • Experience validating Salesforce declarative automation, business processes, platform configurations, and custom functionality.

  • Strong understanding of Salesforce security architecture, including user roles, Profiles, Permission Sets, Sharing Rules, and access controls.

  • Experience performing functional, regression, integration, system, end-to-end, API, and User Acceptance Testing.

  • Hands-on experience utilizing Copado for Salesforce DevOps, automated testing, and release validation.

  • Experience testing integrations involving REST/SOAP APIs, web services, middleware platforms, and external systems.

  • Experience with test planning, requirements traceability, defect management, test execution, and reporting.

  • Strong working knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies, sprint cycles, and release management practices.

  • Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven, or government-focused technology delivery environments.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify defects, investigate root causes, and validate corrective actions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to engage directly with government clients, business users, and technical stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage testing priorities across multiple workstreams and deadlines.

How You Work

The ideal candidate will:

  • Bring a quality-first mindset to Salesforce delivery, taking ownership of testing activities and ensuring solutions are thoroughly validated before release.

  • Approach complex testing challenges with analytical thinking, curiosity, and a structured approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Collaborate effectively with developers, architects, business analysts, and Public Sector stakeholders to maintain alignment between requirements, functionality, and testing outcomes.

  • Balance thoroughness with delivery timelines, prioritizing testing activities based on business impact, technical risk, and release readiness.

  • Communicate defects, testing results, and potential risks clearly, helping technical and non-technical stakeholders make informed decisions.

  • Adapt comfortably to changing priorities, evolving requirements, and the governance expectations of government and regulated client environments.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Cannabis industry experience, particularly within regulated programs or government environments, is highly preferred.

  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Business Analyst, or Platform App Builder.

  • Experience working within a Salesforce consulting firm, systems integrator, or professional services organization.

  • Direct experience supporting federal, state, or local government agencies.

  • Exposure to MuleSoft or other enterprise integration platforms.

  • Experience with additional Salesforce DevOps and testing tools, including Gearset, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Selenium, or Provar.

  • Business Analyst experience, particularly with requirements gathering, user stories, acceptance criteria, or UAT coordination.

What Success Looks Like

  • Salesforce Government Cloud solutions are thoroughly tested and validated against business requirements, security expectations, and platform standards.

  • Test plans, automated scripts, regression suites, and supporting documentation provide reliable coverage across critical business processes.

  • Defects are identified early, clearly documented, prioritized appropriately, and resolved collaboratively with development teams.

  • Integration testing, data validation, and deployment readiness activities support stable and predictable Salesforce releases.

  • Public Sector clients and delivery teams have confidence in the quality, reliability, and security of implemented solutions.
