About Nearfield Instruments

Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing high-tech scale-up. We design, develop, integrate, market, and service advanced metrology systems that enable the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers to improve production yields and enhance the functionality of their microchips. With a strong and expanding presence in South Korea, including Pyeongtaek and Dongtan, we are continuously strengthening our regional footprint to better support our customers.

Why Nearfield?

  • Broader technical exposure: Go beyond routine service work. Work across different technical challenges, perform true root-cause analysis, and develop an end-to-end understanding of customer issues.

  • Real ownership: Take responsibility, solve complex problems, and see the direct impact of your work.

  • Continuous learning: Build expertise in AFM, semiconductor processes, and advanced troubleshooting through hands-on experience, learning directly from experienced experts at HQ and in the field.

  • Customer intimacy: Work closely with customers and directly understand their technical needs and challenges.

  • Global exposure: Opportunities for training at our headquarters in the Netherlands, and close collaboration with HQ and international colleagues.

  • Agile culture: Work in a fast-moving environment with open communication and quick decision-making, where you can make a difference.

The Role

In your role, you will be bridging the gap between product development, onsite customer application services, and sales. Helping the world’s leading chipmakers stay in control of their manufacturing processes, you will convince them of the capabilities of our cutting-edge atomic force microscopy (AFM) systems, demonstrating them on customer wafers, and contribute to R&D to meet future needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying our customer’s metrology needs, for which you will work closely with marketing and sales colleagues and attend meetings with customers.

  • Demonstrating the capabilities of our products, performing measurements on customer wafers, and analyzing the data generated.

  • Reporting and presenting your findings to our customers, showing the unique potential of our systems.

  • Creating measurement recipes in the customer fab, working closely with the customer. You will also conduct tests to ensure that specifications are met and train the engineers and operators of our customers.

  • Working closely with colleagues in Development & Engineering and R&D to develop new measurement modes and metrology solutions, data processing algorithms, and improve user-friendliness and product performance. You will provide input based on your insights into our customers’ roadmaps, user experiences and needs.
